Satsuma, Japan, 18th century

Porcelain, colour enamel and gold overglaze painting. Waves in the lower section, autumn grasses and chrysanthemums in the middle section, and regular ornamentation with leaves and acanthi by the lid. Blue glaze seems to flow down in regular drips; the colours are typical for products intended for export.
